More Fun With Adobe

Lightroom LogoFollowing on from my last post HERE about Adobe Creative Cloud, I finally decided against going the cloud route, and opted to purchase Lightroom 6 outright.

After purchasing my copies of Photoshop CS6 and Premiere Pro CS6 here in Australia a few years ago, during installation I was forced to create an Adobe account for registration. So I created an Australian Account, for software that I purchased in Australia, with my Australian credit card, because I am, and always have been, an Australian Citizen.

However, upon attempting to purchase Lightroom, Adobe decided I am from Argentina, and I need to purchase Lightroom from Argentina, with an Argentinian credit card, and no, they cant fix their error and make my account Australian again.

No wonder they are going broke. Why do some companies make it so hard to do business with them? I have the money ready, I want to buy their product…

INFURIATING!

How to pick up a Coin with a Forklift

20 Cent CoinA work colleague said today that he had more chance of picking up a coin with a forklift, than achieving his task (meaning that it is impossible to pick up a coin with a forklift). I had never heard this myth before, but it certainly does seem impossible to get the thick solid steel tines of a forklift under the coin, given they are usually and inch or more thick. But, with a little lateral thinking, I was actually able to prove him wrong! Here’s how I did it! (For my American friends, a 20 Cent coin is a little larger than a Quarter).

 Update

11 Aug 2011 – After some Googling and Youtubing, to my dismay, it turns out that I am not the first one to have solved this conundrum, but I can say in all honesty, with hand on heart, I truly did figure this one out for myself

Let me Google that for you!

Let me Google That For You!If you are reading my blog, there is a very good chance somebody, somewhere, looks to you as their own personal tech/web help desk. We all know people who need some help, and some need it a lot more than others. Most of the time we understand that not everybody knows everything, and we try to help. However, there are some days when you just want to tell them to “Google it and leave me alone!” – That is the g-rated family friendly version of what we actually think BTW.

For those days when you just want that person to evaporate before your very eyes, there is a really cool way you can point them towards the answer in a not so subtle way, that is sure to get the message across – Let Me Google That For You. The sites description says:

For all those people who find it more convenient to bother you with their question rather than google it for themselves.

Last week I was asked “How do I re-size my browser windows?” You can view my answer on Let Me Google That For You HERE.

There is also a page where you can view a Live Feed of all of Let Me Google That For You searches occurring in real time, giving you an idea of just how many of those people there really is.
